Compensation Committee Consulting
Serving as a bridge between the Board and Management
Compensation Committees serve a vital function — oversight of the organization’s executive compensation programs designed to create a strong performance culture, reward and retain key talent, and support the development of future leadership. Maureen Healy provides expert guidance to directors and trustees tasked with this responsibility. As a strategic advisor to Compensation Committees at Not-For-Profit Organizations for over 20 years, she provides expertise and resources in the following areas:
- Total Compensation Review: Annually reviewing all components of the program, including cash and other components of pay, is essential to ensuring the organization remains competitive and attractive in the talent marketplace. In conjunction with data providers Meridian Compensation Partners, Signature Cultures prepares the annual compensation review. The annual review also ensures that the organization’s compensation strategy, supported by a written Compensation Philosophy, continues to align with and further the organization’s mission.
- Compensation Committee Governance: Essential components of successful Compensation Committees include: complying with all duties outlined in the Committee’s Charter; facilitating strategic dialogue around leadership performance; creating an environment for open, collaborative exchange with management; and, pursuing a disciplined and rigorous meeting process. Maureen’s skill in these areas offers Committees the necessary resources to fulfill their responsibilities.
- Executive Performance: Aligning pay with performance is often one of the most demanding challenges facing a Compensation Committee. Committees wrestle with questions such as — How much pay should be tied to performance outcomes? Which metrics best reflect the organization’s mission? Which performance indicators are better predictors of future success? Guiding Committees through this dialogue, in consultation with management, is an important role that Maureen plays as the Committee’s advisor.
